Getting Started

Safety is our first priority!  We expect every student, faculty and staff member to behave in a manner that does not place them self or others at risk.  Please adhere to all Engineering Innovation Hub safety standards, starting with the accessibility policy below:

  1. Read Workshop Safety Rules. You DO NOT need to Print/Sign this.
  2. Read Hand and Portable Power Tools tutorial.
  3. Take Workshop Safety and Tool Quiz.

Congratulations!!

You now have access to enter the Engineering Innovation Hub and use the hand and portable power tools. Using additional equipment requires additional training (more on this below). Examples of hand and portable power tools include:

  • Saws
  • Drills
  • Clamps
  • Wrenches
  • Pliers
  • Staplers
  • Hot Glue

Next Steps

  1. You should now look at the Equipment & Capabilities page to identify what equipment you will need to use in the EIH. This page has safety training requirements, general descriptions, profile dimensions and standard materials for each piece of equipment. This page also has information overview vidoes for different pieces of equipment.
  2. Once you identify what equipment you need, you need to use individual equipment training. More information can be found on the Equipment Training page.
